School Boards / Parents / Community
The Islamic Schools' League of America envisions and works towards the day when Islamic schools will be School Boards/Parents/Community

Come on in and make yourself at home, for this IS YOUR home. The Islamic Schools' League of America is dedicated to the belief that Islamic education begins, is nurtured, and continues at home and in our Muslim communities. Islamic schools draw upon the talents of that community, most specifically in the form of Board Members who dedicate their time and energy willingly.

  • The process that a school uses to make decisions is important to its success. This process is called governance. Choosing and implementing a successful governance system can make or break a school; therefore you want to lay this critical foundation carefully. Visit the Governance room often to learn what works and what doesn't, as well as share with others what you know.

  • Do you sometimes feel hesitant to discuss curriculum with educators in your school because you feel you need to understand it better? You're not alone. Enter the Curriculum room where you will find information ranging from basic to advanced. You can and should be deeply involved in your school's curriculum decisions, but first you need to educate yourself about it.

  • What is tarbiyah, and why should you learn about it? Come to the Tarbiyah room and discover why it's the most powerful trend in Islamic education today.

  • Have you ever felt awkward about your role in the School? You and Your School explores the wide range of opportunities to connect with your school in a meaningful way. Find tips about organizing after-school activities, tutoring, helping teachers in the classroom, organizing hot lunches, and much more.

  • Do you want to start an Islamic school (you aren't busy enough in your life)? Enter this room and begin the most rewarding, satisfying work you'll ever do. Learn about dealing with zoning boards, fire marshals, school supply companies, and more. Come back often to share your hard-earned knowledge as well as your success!

  • Welcome to the General Issues area where we have included everything but the kitchen sink. Actually, you might very well find the kitchen sink, as this room contains information about topics such as general education issues, school budgets, uniforms, bathroom facilities that accommodate wudu, and more.

  • If you made it all the way to the bottom of this web page, you are a persistent and curious person - two excellent characteristics of a successful fundraiser! Step inside the Financial Issues room and browse for ideas, tips, techniques, and resources. Find links to other sites that might be useful for securing grants. Don't forget to share your knowledge right here with others.
