The
following paper was submitted at the "Islamic
Education in America Conference" in Washington,
D.C. April 6, 2006. The purpose of the conference, sponsored
by Georgetown University and the Institute for Social
Policy and Understanding, was to examine the mosaic
of Islamic education in America by bringing together
scholars, policy experts, and educators who understand
its future directions,
possibilities and challenges. Both documents
